I am happy to announce that we have added solar panels to our roof to heat the water I use in the studio, as well as water for household use.  We still have a gas fired water heater as backup, but our use of gas will be greatly reduced.  We installed solar panels for electricity over five years ago, and in that period of time we have taken one fifth of the electricity from the grid as we had previously used.   Our reduced use of conventional energy is due to a combination of the solar panels and energy conservation.
